Wu-long, Wulong or Oolong?

I am sorry to be the harbinger of bad news but the Wu-long hype is just that hype. First of all I am more than willing to bet that you have all had Wu-long tea before it is called Oolong. Oolong tea is available from every tea vendor and is the tea most often served at Chinese restaurants. Wu-long is made from the same plant as Black, Green and White teas and they share many of the same health benefits. I can guarantee you that no one is an exclusive source for Wu-long and that you can pretty much discount all the claims. Every single claim that I have heard is either flat out wrong or hold true for all types of teas not just Oolong tea. Please don’t be taken in by the latest marketing scheme. Tea is good for you so please find a tea you love and drink it often but don’t pay these scam artists a single penny.

I'm glad I saw your Google listing BEFORE I fell for the hype on the "other" site.

Their copywriting skills are superb, most likely due to their unfounded and misleading claims about their Wu Long tea.

I also tend to research things to death before making a purchase of anything.

Thanks for the clear explanation of what "Wu Long" really is. I've bookmarked your site as I am also a tea lover and micro-brew beer lover. Both excellent for health!

Thank you so much for the clear review. We were almost ready to buy this Oolong tea, however we thought of reading some users blogs first. ur opinion has helped us a lot.

Can you point me to that exact study because I have been unable to find it. The only studies I can find talk about weight loss in men and weight loss with Oolong but that study was inconclusive because they recieved similar results from just giving them the same amount of caffeine without the tea.

Ha!

Just came across this while searching about tea.....amazing how much they charge.

I live in Beijing and it costs about a yuan (10cent) for a bottle.
Next to nothing for just the actuall tea on its own. Its availabe in pretty much every single shop in town - its that common.

Well I read that this tea won the diet of the year award.
"clinical studies have shown that drinking Wu-Long tea significantly reduces the fattening effects of carbs by "blunting" the insulin spike that occurs naturally after consumption of carbohydrates. Since insulin is known as your body's "fat-storing hormone, having less of it in your system is key to accelerating any weight loss resolution."
SOUNDS FISHY TO ME or mabe theres something to this stuff.
I am going to do more research.check out

Maybe but can you show where you got this information from I believe it is false. It helped me to loose 40 lds, so it cant be a load of crap.

I am not saying that it would not help you at all. I was just stating that any plain old Oolong or green tea would give you the same benefits. My point is that people are paying huksters big bucks for the same thing you can get from the local chinese restaurant for next to nothing.

How much weight have people actually lost by drinking oolong? and within what time period?

Wu long does seem like such a scam.
But I do not think all teas a cheap though,it depends on how they are made and quality also.
I just bought several Yunnan teas and they were a bit more expensive- like $30 for 500 grams (that is 250 cups),
and a cheper one that is black tea w lychee was $15 for 500 grams (250 cups).
This was the price that some chinese tea website charges to ship to American/Canadian customers-so if u r in china it is even cheaper I'm sure.

Some interesting teas to try are Silver needle
Jasmine gumpowder
Jade rings
Blooming teas

Also did u know you can reause most tea leaves 3 or 4 times to make other cups?

I agree. Things should be consumed in moderation and tips should be taken for a grain of salt.
